Dr. Riyaz Shah is a consultant medical oncologist at the Kent Oncology Centre in the UK, where he specializes in immunotherapies to treat patients suffering from thoracic, gastrointestinal.

Clinical focus and interest:

Dr. Shah has a major interest in clinical research and specializes in thoracic and gastrointestinal malignancies. He provides National Health Service clinics at Darent Valley and Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells hospitals.

Experience:

Dr. Shah qualified from the University of London in 1994 and was awarded a Clinical Research Fellowship by the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, for which he focused on irregularities in gene transcription in cancer and gene therapy. This led to the award of a PhD in 2002. He completed his medical oncology training at the Royal Marsden Hospital and has been a consultant medical oncologist at the Kent Oncology Centre since 2006. He was the UK chief investigator for the LUX-Lung 5 trial.

Affiliations:

Dr. Shah is a member of the Advanced Disease Subgroup of the National Cancer Research Institute. Dr. Shah is currently the chair of the Lung Tumour Site Specific Group for Kent and Medway Cancer Collaborative and a member of the Thoracic Surgery Clinical Reference Group.
